Darrel Kent, an IT industry veteran of 32 years, is responsible for Hitachi Data Systems worldwide operations of the Global and Strategic Accounts program. Prior to this position, he was responsible for worldwide product management and product marketing of Hitachi Freedom Storage products, including the™ (FDN)™ Lightning and Thunder storage families, and Hitachi Freedom Data Networks components.
Kent joined Hitachi Data Systems in 1986 as a Systems Engineer in Denver. Over the past eighteen years, he has held a variety of positions, including technical marketing, sales support, product specialist, sales management and business operations.
Kent co-founded the Rocky Mountain Computer Measurement Group (CMG) and is an active member of the Strategic Account Management Association (SAMA). He is an author and lecturer, most recently presenting at Regis University in the United States and Cranfield University School of Management in the United Kingdom.
Prior to joining HDS, Kent worked at USWEST in data center operations as Operator, Manager, Systems Programmer, Technical Staff Specialist and Capacity Planner.
Kent serves on two information technology commissions for the State of Colorado. He is a board observer for the Colorado Institute of Technology and a commissioner on the Governors Commission for Science and Technology.
Kent studied Accounting and Mathematics at Regis College in Denver, Colorado
