Job Summary

The functional responsibility of this position is to develop external sales opportunities for EventCom International by Marriott. In developing Eventcomâ?Ts market share of full service meeting management and communication technology platforms, the account manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of accounts. The manager's primary responsibility is to grow sales and determine client base and clients who are booking full service meeting management and technology services and leverage this business towards Eventcom, and, whenever appropriate, Marriott.

Expected Contributions

  • Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.
  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
  • Achieves business results by:
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes
  • Providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution
  • Participating in setting department operating plans
  • Recognizing and celebrating team successes
  • Achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility
  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge
  • Performs other duties as appropriate

Specific Expected Contributions:

  • Attain individual sales goal in producing profitable full service event management and technology-based revenues. Technology-based services include satellite, website and online registration, web streaming and audio conferencing
  • Direct meetings towards Marriott/Renaissance hotels, whenever appropriate
  • Saturation and solicitation of all potential markets through mailers, phone and National Account opportunities
  • Act as a liaison between internal and external customers until final turnover of program to event, accounting and technical operations team. Maintain contact with clients towards satisfaction of objectives
  • Support relationships with outside vendors and Strategic Partner relationships
  • Develop rapport and build relationship with external and internal customers
  • Keep up to date on market and customer trends through industry magazine, trade shows and industry events
  • Follow proper account management procedures and initiate contact with Marriott Enterprise Sales Team (EST) account managers prior to calling on a shared account
  • Keep CRM information in Siebel up to date; Manage account tracking and revenue production

Specific Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of two years of sales experience in national account development selling meeting management or other business services; ideally candidate will have a client list from calling on sales, product marketing and meeting planning departments in pharmaceutical and/or financial industry.
  • Chicago-based position â?" office located in Rosemont, IL; Consideration would be given to remote office in NY, DC or LA area based on experience and potential client list.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Utilize selling skills to book all aspects of meeting or event.
  • Proficiency in meeting room set-ups, high-end audiovisual, videoconferencing transmission mediums and other support services.
  • Knowledge/appreciation of Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites/Renaissance/Courtyard/Fairfield Inn and Residence Inn brand culture, philosophies and initiatives.
  • Understanding of contract management and legalities.
  • Understanding of strategic account management principles.
  • Understanding and achievement of team and individual goals.
  • Software knowledge (Microsoft Office, CRM software - Siebel).
  • Knowledge of account significance to Marriott.

Western Region National Account Manager

Kensington Computer Products Group is seeking a National Account Manager for the Western region to join our marketing team in Redwood Shores, CA. This position will report to the Director of Channel Marketing, and is responsible for the sales quota of assigned accounts, which include distributor, Direct Market Resellers (DMR's), and Value Added Resellers (VAR's) accounts. He/she will be in charge of all customer facing activity with these accounts, and will manage existing sales and new opportunities to increase the sales volume within this assigned region. The National Account Manager facilitates weekly orders based on a regular analysis of on-hand inventory and sales-out trends. Responsibilities include implementing plans and participating in all on-site customer activities (trainings, floor days, etc.) in Buffalo, NY and Santa Ana, CA.

Other duties include:

  • Use customer provided data and Kensington's reporting tool to generate reports and analysis of sales results.
  • Build close relationships with day-to-day contacts (buyer, marketing manager) and connect Kensington and Ingram Micro senior management for regular interaction.
  • Pro-actively manage high-potential VAR accounts in the region via regular phone and email communication and re-actively manage smaller VARs by serving as their single point of contact for all Kensington needs.
  • Represent Kensington at Distributor VAR events and on the Distributor sales floor during floor days and trainings, track and measure results via reporting tool and follow-up on all direct communication to VAR program participants.
  • Negotiate all catalog, web and related marketing programs at assigned DMR accounts (PC Mall, Zones).
  • Determine appropriate products to be featured in all marketing vehicles and facilitate delivery of all related images, copy and information.
  • Track and measure sales and ROI of program spending. Handle all training and showcase activities.
  • Manage all sales and marketing activity at DBL and Vanguard Distributing to ensure spending does not exceed budget.
  • Achieve or exceed quota on a quarterly basis.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Must have 3+ years experience in a sales environment, handling national accounts.
  • B2B experience selling to distributors and resellers is required.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of accounts with a diverse product line is essential.
  • Prior channel sales experience required. Must have strong experience working closely with the customer, managing all aspects of the account.
  • Strong experience managing existing sales and new opportunities is required.
  • Ability to handle basic creative projects, i.e. flyers and presentations.
  • Prior experience selling into this market is highly desired, specifically if candidates have previously sold to Ingram Micro.
  • Must be willing to travel to Buffalo, NY (quarterly or monthly as needed) and travel within sales territory on customer visits as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
